Yesterday, Pastor Blackburn began a new 3-part series that will surely make everyone sit up and take notice. He is talking about End Times events; namely, the Rapture, Heaven and what we’ll be doing there, and the Book of Revelation. This morning he started with a bang, talking about Christ’s return and the people who are not praying for it. You could hear a pin drop in the room when he mentioned engaged couples and young men and women who are more concerned in finding “the one” than longing for the return of our Savior. Whatever we fill our days with can get in the way of our true calling: knowing Jesus and making Him known, and, also praying for His Kingdom to come. If we truly know Him, then we should yearn to be with Him. That does not mean that we stop living, or tuck ourselves away in a Hobbit hole like Bilbo Baggins–with only our grandmother’s fine dishes and doilies to keep us company and no thought of adventure–but if we find ourselves praying for Jesus not to come back before we a) get married, b) have kids, c) insert short or long term want, then we seriously need to re-prioritize our way of thinking. Can you imagine what would happen if our #1 priority was reaching as many people as possible with the Gospel before our Lord’s return?

I know it is coming out of Hollywood, but at least someone is tackling this vital subject.
